KY-SD37: Special election date announced to fill David Yates' (D) vacated Kentucky Senate seat

FRANKFORT, Ky. — The date has been set for a special election to fill the Kentucky Senate District 37 seat.

The position was recently vacated by David Yates, who was named interim Jefferson County Clerk following the death of longtime Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw.

Yates was sworn into the role on Oct. 8. He will serve out the remainder of Holsclaw's term, which runs through November 2026.

With Yates accepting the interim position, he had to resign his seat in the Kentucky state legislature.
