Related: About this forumSo, i've seen some wonderful Poland Spring Water commercials lately.
Interestingly, they claim to remove only .0042 % of the available water. I think Poland Springs is sucking the aquifer in York County....dry. please explain why I am stupid.

(24 posts)Poland Springs has many sites in Maine. The Hollis source is about 15 miles from where we live. Route 112 runs by our home and each day 500 tractor trailers run from the MTA to Hollis and back filled with bottled water. Fryeburg has a similar facility and there are several others throughout the State.
Thats a lot of water being extracted and Im not aware Maine is getting much in return.

(24 posts)A better analysis would be to measure the impact on the aquifers where they are drawing the water. Each is unique and impacts will vary. Throwing a statistic of .0042% is meaningless and is meant to minimize and hide the impacts of their operations.

(32,599 posts)Was going to post the link, but you did it for me. Those extraction volumes sure don't sound close to .0042%
And I wish you a great Christmas day, my friend!
