'You Promised': Pastor Confronts Minneapolis Police Chief For Working With ICE During Raid

Pastor Ingrid Rasmussen confronted Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara during a federal raid on a community in South Minneapolis on Tuesday. In emotional footage published by Sahan Journal, Rasmussen can be seen confronting O'Hara about breaking his promise to her, apparently in her church, that his department would build better relations with the community.

"You stand in my church...You're not listening to me. You stand in my church. You promised a better relationship," Rasmussen yelled as O'Hara worked to disperse a crowd of protestors. Rasmussen is lead pastor at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.

Multiple federal law enforcement agencies, including ICE, FBI, ATF, DEA, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, outfitted in fully militarized uniforms and gear, raided a Mexican restaurant Tuesday morning on the corner of Bloomington Avenue and East Lake Street; the same neighborhood that faced violent protests following the murder of George Floyd nearly five years to the day.

Members of the community responded rapidly; blocking the path of the federal agents as they tried to drive away after raiding the Las Cuatro Milpas restaurant on East Lake Street. The situation quickly turned chaotic as the crowd threw trash, bottles, and even tires at the federal agents. Tear gas was reportedly used against the crowd.

And the people who made this atrocity happen need to be thrown in prison for the rest of their worthless lives.

(Mayor) Frey, (Mpls Police Chief) O'Hara and (Hennepin County Sheriff) Witt also slammed local leaders for reacting without the facts, emphasizing the raid wasn't tied to immigration despite the presence of agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Also on Wednesday, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty released a statement about Tuesday's raid, sharply criticizing Homeland Security's explanation and accusing the department of deploying ICE "to terrorize people."

"I want to be very clear that ICE showing up in the heart of one of our vibrant immigrant communities alongside local law enforcement causes grievous and irreparable harm," Moriarty said. "Across the country, ICE is conducting masked abductions of people who are at university, entering courthouses, and working and contributing to this country."

Moriarty also urged local law enforcement to be "clear and transparent" about their involvement with federal agencies or risk discouraging "people from reporting crimes, from testifying as witnesses, and from seeking help."

Nothing else in the closet to wear, I guess. I know that's how it is for me, I procrastinate doing laundry for too long, and then all's I've got left are my ICE t-shirts.
