Syracuse mayor's race fuels turnout in primary election early voting

Syracuse, N.Y. ― Fueled by a contested race for Syracuse mayor, a record-setting 225 people in Onondaga County voted Saturday on the first day of early voting for the primary election.

That includes 208 votes in Syracuse, where three Democrats competed in the mayor’s race.

That beats the county’s previous single-day vote for similar local primaries: 186 voters on the first day of the June 2023 primary. A local race does not include presidential or congressional years.

Election day is June 24 for the primary and Nov. 4 for the general election for county, city and town positions.
