Tennessee Democratic Party overturns 2 Hardeman County elections
JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) - The Tennessee Democratic Party State Primary Board has overturned two Hardeman County election contests.
School Board District 1, Positions 2 and 3 have both been overturned due to absentee ballots concerns. The board voted to set aside the results of the affected Hardeman County Democratic primary contests due to questions of election interference regarding absentee ballots.
According to Hardeman County Administrator of Elections Amber Moore, an individual started calling voters and requested they vote absentee following early voting numbers coming out. The large shift in numbers on election day caused residents to begin questioning the results to the candidates. Bradford Polk and Quintessa Stewart sent letters to the state challenging the election results.
In a letter sent from the Hardeman County Democratic Party to Coordinator of Elections Mark Goins, the party stated, In its review of the Hardeman County election contests, the Board found that there was a preponderance of evidence indicating that absentee ballots were tampered with and that such conduct may have been undertaken for fraudulent purposes. While the Board does not make criminal findings, it concluded that the integrity of the absentee voting process in these races had been compromised to such an extent that the certified results could not be relied upon as an accurate reflection of the will of the Democratic primary voters.
