Zoom to acquire Seattle sales and marketing startup

Zoom Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: ZM) is acquiring Seattle-based sales and marketing startup Common Room.

The companies aren't disclosing the financial terms of the deal, which is expected to close in the coming weeks. The deal sends Common Room's employees and technology to the big-name video communications company that exploded in popularity during the pandemic, when many people worked from home and needed new ways to meet virtually.

Zoom hasn't responded to questions on how many employees Common Room has, whether they are all joining Zoom or what will happen to the Common Room brand. Common Room has 181 employees listed on LinkedIn.

"With Zoom's scale, resources and global reach, we'll be able to accelerate our roadmap while continuing to serve and innovate for our customers," Common Room co-founder and CEO Linda Lian said in a news release.
