Wisconsin DMV extends hours for voter ID ahead of spring election

MADISON, Wis. (WKBT) — Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles service centers will extend their hours through Tuesday to help voters obtain photo identification for the state's spring election.

DMV locations will remain open until 6 p.m. on Monday, April 6, and Tuesday, April 7. The extended hours will give residents who need a photo ID additional time to visit a DMV location before polls open Tuesday morning.

The move targets voters who don't already have a Wisconsin driver's license, ID card or other acceptable identification needed to vote.

To obtain a Wisconsin ID card, residents must provide a birth certificate, proof of identity and proof of Wisconsin residency. The DMV provides ID cards for voting purposes to U.S. citizens at no charge.
