City Council approves referendum language for the November election that is directly tied to large scale development

JANESVILLE — Janesville voters will decide this November whether they want the final say over large-scale development projects at the former GM/JATCO site after the city council unanimously approved the language for the referendum question Monday night.

The council approved language that asks voters:

“Should approval of proposed development agreements, development projects, sales, and leases of the GM/JATCO sites for projects exceeding $450 million in project costs be decided by a majority vote of the electors?”

Council members offered little discussion before approving the language.
