City combining polling places for 2026 general election

WATERTOWN — To simplify election administration and reporting, the City is combining polling places.

With primary ballots already set for the August election, this consolidation will just be in place for the 2026 general election in November.

“If we were to do this for the primary, we’re going to have to get new ballots, which is an extensive cost,” said Mayor Robert Stocks. “I would like to keep it just for the general election and not have it for the primary. I would also like it to be just for the November 2026 election. (We might) possibly have construction at (City Hall), so we might have to move things around a little bit. We don’t know what the future holds. If we’re renovating the building at all, there’s a chance something won’t be open. When the 2028 fall election comes, we can adopt a different resolution.”
