(114,748 posts)I aked about IPO cost, minimum investment. Then I asked about earnings. And I said:
and honestly, the numbers weren't my main concern, that Musk would do to them what he did to Tesla, run it into the ground by trying to push pet projects that exceeded the limits of todays technology....or which were just plain weird.
Even Star Link is running into trouble as some satellite orbit are decaying with no apparent plans for maintenance. Looks like the military's de-pendence on the system might be misplaced and short lived.

(6,168 posts)They are de-orbited because they wouldn't be controllable for longer than that. The newer version 2s allow more data transfer, but weigh about 300 pounds more than the version 1s. They've already brought over 2000 total from both versions down. My issue with these disintegrating satellites coming back is we don't know what sort of metals or other materials are being spread into the upper atmosphere and what the long term environmental ramifications will be. Bezos, the Chinese, the Russians and some other countries also want to have similar constellations. It's a disaster waiting to happen.
