Bank of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger on Amazon Prime Video
Two years after Dave Fishwick (Rory Kinnear) established the UK's first community bank in the rusting former factory town of Burnley, a caller on a radio program alerts him to the suffering caused by payday lenders, who prey upon the most vulnerable, charging exorbitant interest and fees. He resolves to fight back and is aided by a community activist, a Yank financial journalist, a former adversary (Hugh Bonneville) and, of course, local legends, the rock band Def Leppard.
This "true-ish" sequel to "The Bank of Dave" delivers all the heartwarming vibes as the original. Kinnear, who usually plays bad guys, shines once again in a pitch-perfect characterization of an ordinary man who knows the right thing to do and doesn't hesitate to do it despite the forces arrayed against him. Not so much a movie as a therapy for when you think the whole world has just gone to crap and need to be reminded of what people can accomplish when they stand by each other.
