Related: About this forumHi! Just checking if anyone here has done doxorubicin chemo?
The infusion is red so maybe they called it the "Red Devil" when you got it?
I'm about to go on a trio of it, Carboplatin and Avastin (bevacizumab) since my ovarian cancer is back.
I made it almost a full year (11 months) post chemo before it came back. I had a real atrocious time trying to get my prescribed Lynparza (which was my preventative) due to insurance walls I kept running into. It was $25k a month for my prescribed dosage w/o insurance approval so that just wasn't an option. Anyhoo, I guess all those times I was in limbo maybe bit me in the butt? I'm not sure but I am sure my cancer is back as my CA 125 has blown up from my constant 11 to 159 and my PET scan sadly lit up like a glow stick at a rave.
Anyone here ever been on this regime they're starting me on Tuesday? If so, advice or testimonials you'd like to share? I did Docetaxel, Carboplatin and Avastin previously. It truly beat me up badly. I was hoping somone here knew something about the doxil to give me a heads up?

(19,994 posts)I hear you. Fuck cancer! I am truly, deeply sorry you've endured its horrors also.
Thank you. I'm not done yet! Until my cancer becomes platinum resistant (the flavor of chemo they use on ovarian cancer) I'll still be here railing against the injustices.

I've got this. I just don't know what to expect from my most recent chemo I'm about to begin. I won't lie, I'm a bit scared, but I'm a fighter and this is just another battle in the war. Don't worry, this isn't the last battle yet. I still have this!

(24,867 posts)It could work really well for you by starving the tumors! Like other chemo, your doctors will have to watch carefully to make sure you're coping well with it, though.
Did you get the insurance problems worked out?
I'm about to go through a similar new chemo cocktail I'll post about soon.
Please keep posting here as you can!

(469 posts)My daughter had endometrial stromal sarcoma which later progressed to peritoneal cancer. Seven months ago, she underwent massive abdominal surgery. Her chemo treatment was HIPEC. During her surgery, her entire abdomen was flooded with heated chemo. Cold chemo (delivered intravenously) and radiation are utterly ineffective regimens for her type of rare, virulent cancer. If you Google HIPEC and ovarian cancer, you will find info regarding its efficacy. The doctor who invented the HIPEC treatment works at the same medical center where my daughter is employed and is her oncologist. I assume other medical centers now offer this treatment. You might want to discuss HIPEC with your doctor. If it should ever be a potential treatment option for you and HIPEC is not offered in your area, contact me. You'd have to travel to Maryland, however, I would offer my home to you and your family members as well as help to transport you to the medical center. Best wishes to you. I know how difficult a journey this is.
