Breakfast Wednesday 29 April 2026

Posting early because I'm sleepy.

I'm planning on making Soy Sauce Fried Eggs

Instagram video
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DXHYNu8COco/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Start by whisking together 1 tbsp light soy sauce + 1/2 tbsp dark soy sauce (replace with light soy sauce if you prefer) + 1 tsp water + 1 tsp brown sugar/ jaggery.

Heat 1-2 tsp sesame oil/ any neutral flavoured oil of choice. Add.
- 1/2 sliced onion
- Handful of green onions
- 3-4 cloves of minced garlic
- 2-3 tsp sesame seeds
- 2-3 tsp chilli flakes (optional)
- 1-2 tbsp chilli oil (let me know if you’d like the recipe)

Once fragrant (and the onions have caramelised), push them out to the edges of your pan and crack your eggs in the centre.

Once they start to cook, pour in your prepped sauce.

Serve hot over a bowl of rice, noodles or even on toast and DIVE IN! Optional: you can add a dollop of chilli oil on top too.

I'm planning on serving this over rice with my usual pot of hot tea to drink.

Oatmeal with blueberries, later

We are having torrential rain and thunder. The dogs don’t like storms.

Good Morning, you all 🤗

And looks like rain and a chipmunk was alarm calling till just now. I wonder what set it off.

Rice, Carrots, Beets and will probably have a vegan sweet later.

Still getting my schedule in order. The monsoons mean I will have to exercise in my room instead of running outside. But the additional heavy street traffic outside plus jerks aggressively driving their bikes with silencers off had completely ruined my evening run anyway.

Your post reminded me of the oddest (Tim Walz is cool, but he has ruined “weird” much like Trump ruined “great” and Zuckerberg ruined “like”…my vocabulary is shrinking…no more aversion therapy though..I may not survive it) movie I ever saw called involving a substance called soy sauce that sends people to alternate realities. Can’t remember its name but Paul Giamatti was in it.

I was looking in grim amusement at the traffic on my street here in India. Some of it is probably routine traffic. Anyway it made me think of the Black Mirror episdode “Crocodile”. It is a metaphor for the ongoing goings and I have mixed feelings about metaphors. Still..

Yes that is the movie: “John Dies at the End”

Creamer potato slices, fried until crispy. Pour the eggs over to make the omelette. This is said to be Greta Garbo's favorite omelette.

Lettuce greens as a side.

Iris, your recipe sounds good. Might try it.

Re rain, did you and Loretta get the garden planted?

and carrots. They're saying we have a good chance for frost this weekend. Loretta found several volunteer squash plants growing in the compost pile. She dug those up, and planted them in the garden. I guess will find out what type of squash they are. (I think they're pumpkin)
