Beautiful but windy day in Northern Michigan...

Nice day to make fertilizer out of the Russian Comfrey growing out back.

Tons of info can be found online about comfrey. I use it in all its forms …I’ll take single leaves and lay it around the heavy feeders. As the leaves break down it is a direct feed. I take some leaves and stems, chop up and marinate in some water for a few weeks. Liquid fertilizer. We usually get about 5 flushes of plant, later in the summer I chop it up and dry for use in the winter grows. I just put the mower on bag and mow it down then dry that mixture.

Interesting. I use mostly composted goat manure and hay.

What are you growing in your garden?

We have some kind of bug that's chewing on plants though. They are invisible. Powdering with Sevin. They're also after my rose bushes.

I apply Grub ex in the autumn and early spring and summer…lessens the population but still around.
Worst aphid infestation was in our greenhouse, we ordered some Lady Bugs let them loose and have not had an aphid problem in years…lots of lady bugs though…they tend to hang around…they even re-energized the outdoor population.

I always thought it was toxic and not to be eaten or made into tea.

I’ve got wild comfrey growing out in back of my yard beyond the fence, in the wooded area.
