Replacing a very old windmill with a solar pump. Any suggestions, remarks?

The blades on the old mill are done for so we have to do something. Does not make sense to put up a new mill head. so going with solar. If you have a solar pump, can you tell me what type, how long you have had it and if you are happy with it. Thanks.

1. i cant help you, but

arent the new wind turbine supposed to be cool and spiffy?
i'd kinda like to do some small wind on top of solar. it's either sunny or windy here pretty much at all times.

What is your well depth and casing size? Do you know your flow rate? (and have we had this conversation before?)

4. I have been trying to hold onto this well for a while.

We have five wells and they are all very old. We are slowly making decisions about almost all of them. We have gone to electric pumps for all but this one.

5. a pro can probably set you up as easy and even cheap as DYI

especially if they are deep. very common set up in AZ and NM at least, and I assume elsewhere. another resource for specs and design (and possible funding if it is for livestock/ag in any way) might be your local NRCS office.

6. I got my solar pump from Sun Pumps in Arizona

I have a 1200 gal holding tank..

8. That tank is 15000. Not that different. What area does it serve?

7. Looks like we are just going to take an old viable mill head from one of the windmills where

we put in an electric pump and move it to the well in question. The mill which is not working now is veeeeery old and there is no telling how straight that shift is so if we change to solar we might end up having to redrill. This is much cheaper and hopefully will work. What I wish is that there were a combination for wind and solar, especially here in Texas were lots of wind in the winter and lots of sun in the summer.
