(174 posts)and work online, so have tried them all but viasat. The best and current access is via my U.S. Cellular cellphone hotspot: fast and reliable.

I am out in the sticks in west Texas and i use a wireless internet that available through my power co-op. You might want to see if something like that is available.
It isn't great but it sure beats dial-up over 70 year old phone lines

(56,898 posts)it was a lot better than the TWN wifi (the tower is on a small mountain right behind my house) but it was only good for one device at a time. the wifi is ok and we run 3 computers and a couple tablets off of it most of the time. it craps out pretty often but like I said, I was on really slow dial up until 2012 or thereabouts!

(12,046 posts)It works good you can stream. The drawback of course is bandwidth per month pretty much makes hulu or whatever internet tv impractical. We pay $80/mo for 50 GB... after that you are throttled unless you want to pay $3 per GB for tokens. I have been considering trying rural4g through the cell towers.

(16,992 posts)I went ahead and got the satellite service but the second the cell phone people can hook me up I am using them. They are half the price and twice the speed.
