i am dying of broken hearts the physical and metaphysical
two but the same in my chest both bonded together forever
each aching in different parts in the arteries and the fanciful
neither able to choose a best nor to complete its endeavour
why do hearts represent love and not the mind or the soul
being able to measure the motion understand when it stops
is it possible to appeal to above for some reprieve of this toll
even while wallowing in an ocean of sorrows and teardrops
one heart for love another for life what percent in the divide
the aging heart stirring with desire but reality cannot tell lies
small signs of decrepitude are rife beyond the unseen inside
timbers already charred by the fire proving the quest unwise
feeling dull pains awaiting a sharp breathless dark entrance
comes the quiet notes of a harp as a true sign of repentance
