only Frank Sinatra can sing that song. Thank gawd at the NBA??? They did have the recording of Franks version

It's the exit music at Yankee Stadium. They occasionaly use the Liza Minelli version.

And Frank Sinatra's voice coach, the great baritone Robert Merrill, would sometimes sing the Star Spangled Banner at games.

bar owner calls : i need new york new york on the juke box. i had the song and a cold beer sounded good so i went over and did the job. what i learned that night :
yankee stadium plays sinatra when the yankees win. minelli when they lose. yankee fans do not want to hear liza.
next time i brought sinatra.
