(6,819 posts)usually along with a moral judgment about the birds. "They're nasty birds," is a common refrain. There are crusaders who take it upon themselves to kill cowbirds, as if that could end the spread of the parasitism. The real problem isn't the birds, but the reduction of their natural range and habitat due to human encroachment.
Thanks for the info and for not making a moral judgment about organisms whose only code is survival.
