We have fed the birds in our backyard for many years, since the late 1990s.

This year we have noticed a strange trend in our visitors. White feathers on birds that shouldn't have white feathers.

We have seen these white markings on three different species: Juncos, Sparrows and Common Grackles.

Is this a common occurrence and we've just missed the different visitors all these years with white spots?

The birds appear healthy, and it's not bird poop, (spots stay on in the rain.)

Just weird to see so many birds with feather mutations in one year!
