One thing I realized a long time ago is that atheists didn't have any more in common with each other than people with the same hair color do, I've known too many total assholes who were atheists to believe we're any sort of a particularly enlightened bunch. You know, not just old geezers on the make, young women fucking their way to the top (always felt they deserved each other), Randorrhoids, hard core Communists, Men who try to elbow their way into women's meetings to whine about how women are trying to silence them are just the strychnine cherry on the arsenic cake.
I've known Dawkins is a creeper for a long time. The others were a little less familiar because the assholes have always discouraged me from joining any formal sort of atheist movement. Plus, it's not just the entitled old creepers, it's the horrible men who don't think women can be atheists because we can't possibly know what we're talking about (HUH?) or who get all bent out of shape when confronted by any woman who isn't a mousey little twit who will take orders from him. I think Watson would agree with this, very plucky of her to keep trying to get them to evolve.
I do know a lot of perfectly reasonable atheist men. They tend to be as leery as I am about organizations of atheists and for the same reasons. Atheism just doesn't seem to produce any more social cohesion than freckles do.
