Senator Chris Murphy: It's time for the left to offer solutions that are as big as the problems

people are facing. No more incrementalism. No more market adjustments. We need wholesale change to unrig our economy and unrig our democracy.

1. "Offering solutions" is much different from actually implementing them

They are not listening to us anymore because they are enthralled by the orange Jesus

It is such a dark time we are in, I believe we would all agree on that.

We must do everything we can to compare and contrast with Trump's evil corruption.

3. I think the poor approval rating they keep referring to is because we are feckless in stopping Trump

Imo, we are not seen as a forceful united party. I want to see more like Murphy out there. I wish they would do more collectively.

Even if it is some virtual town halls. Just please, let's work as hard as we can, and it doesn't look strategic currently, that is my concern.

6. I think the party, as a whole, needs to be a solid wall of opposition to Trump.

Oppose everything they propose, including apple pie and motherhood. Tell them we won’t even talk to them until they call our party by the right name. Respect please. I want the party to be angry as hell. I don’t know what others want. None of our ideas will be implemented if we can’t get some respect from the public. We need to correct when they say things like, “the president takes an oath to protect the American people“. The oath is to protect the constitution. Correct them every damn time.

9. Yes, full throttle. We're not explaining why DEI is not a system that hurts America.

We're not explaining how a DOJ whistleblower is stating he was told to lie for Trump. How does that translate for them?
Don't expect them to get it, explain its greater danger and how it will cause THEM harm as US citizens, regardless of party affiliation.

The Roberts Court, explain why immunity is dangerous for ANY president, even the ones they hate will have it.

Trump uses scapegoats/boogeymen to point fingers at perceived made up problems while he robs the treasury. Explain that too, use a damn graph/visuals if you need to.

We're not explaining what we will do in his place. I get that it is overwhelming now, but a strategic plan would be great starting about 6 months ago.

peaceful family and friendship ties. We are too tolerant and nice.

My sister tries to maintain normal relations with our MAGA side of the family. I tell her this isn't about politics.

I am heartbroken, disgusted, and angry. I can't see ever going back to just letting it slide for Thanksgiving's sake. You know what I mean?

I can't help loving my family and friends. But I can avoid them.

I think I’m extremely lucky not to have that problem in my family, plus my social circle is so small now that I’m retired.

Disagree.

One cannot be ‘feckless’ absent the means to stop Trump.

The low approval of Democrats is the consequence of the fear, ignorance, and stupidity of the voters who put Trump in office; indeed, the fear, ignorance, and stupidity that gave control of Congress to Republicans, depriving Democrats the means to stop Trump.

Disagree with Senator Murphy as well – Democratic policies are hardly ‘incrementalism’; as usual, the problem is perception, Democratic policies have always pursued responsible governance and sound public policy. The problems we face are the consequence of Republicans abandoning those policies when put in control of Congress and the WH by the voters; the voters have only themselves to blame.

12. A good start

would be a concrete plan to fix Social Security as a main talking point ahead of the midterms. A plan to claw back tax cuts and have the rich pay their share and as a bonus take the charges for Medicare for the retired off the books. A lot of things can be done to fix our problem with the voters and solve a lot of our countries problems .A guarantee to fix Social Security if given the senate and the house ,and it can be done if the effort is put forward . The payments for insurance hurts when prices always rise for goods and the little raise people recieve is mostly wiped out with the rise in medicare premiums .
