1. DISCLAIMER: I do believe that Maduro must end his life in prison for all the crimes he allowed to be committed,

all the people that were tortured, and killed, all the money he and his minions stole, and how they took a very wealthy country to ruins. Having said that, Maduro is the least evil of the regime, like trump, he is just a puppet, a useful idiot, reason why the regime decided to use him as a trophy for trump.

The argument that Maduro is not a legitimate president is a very weak argument. Although he did steal the election, Maria Corina Machado proved it, she has the evidence, but trump legitimized him when he sent his envoy to negotiate with "The President of Venezuela" for the release of some USA hostages Venezuela had imprisoned, trump has constantly referred to him as the president, that is one. The other is that trump wants the VP, an incredible criminal and crook, the daughter of a kidnapper, to assume the presidency thus legitimizing again their positions as heads of the Venezuelan Republic.

I am not a lawyer, but it is clear that trump has always thought of him as the president of Venezuela, that should be an argument from the defense.
