Let's talk about Trump demanding the SAVE Act or he won't sign anything else... - Belle of the Ranch

Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump demanding the SAVE Act or he won't sign anything else.

Trump is going all in on the SAVE Act and stomping his feet, making demands and saying that if the SAVE Act isn't passed, well, then he won't play president anymore. He won't sign any other bills. In the process, he showed the entire country that he doesn't understand the bare basics of the office he currently occupies.

In a rambling social media post, he said, "I, as president, will not sign other bills until this is passed and not the watered down version. Go for the gold. Must show voter ID and proof of citizenship. No mail in ballots except for military, illness, disability, travel.”

After that, he attacked trans people, trying to convince the most gullible people in the country that the two issues are somehow connected so he can use trans people as a scapegoat and a way to motivate his base. Most in Congress probably burst out laughing at his very very serious promise to obstruct the legislative process by refusing to grant his kingly ascent to their bills. Because while Trump and his base may think this promise is a very big deal and very much a power move by a real dealmaker, Congress knows it shows something else.

So what does it show? First, it shows that Trump is absolutely desperate to find some way to inject himself into the election process in a way that is outside the scope of his job. Beyond that, it shows that once again, Trump doesn't know the Constitution. I won't sign any more bills. Cool. So, he's promising to make sure that anything at all that Congress passes will become law.

I am once again asking people to read the Constitution. If you don't want to read it yourself, there's a link to a reading of the Constitution in the description of my videos. Article 1, section 7 says, "If any bill shall not be returned by the president within 10 days, Sundays accepted after it shall have been presented to him, the same shall be a law in like manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their adjournment prevent its return, in which case it shall not be a law."

So if he doesn't sign it, it becomes law. It doesn't actually stop anything. The idea that his signature is required for a bill to become law could only come from a president who literally does not know the basics of his job. A promise to not sign a bill isn't leverage. It's handing all the power to Congress. Do it. I'm sure Congress is laughing at him and talking about Briar Rabbit. Trump doesn't know the Constitution. How can he uphold it?

Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
