Related: About this forumLet's talk about Trump rejecting Iran's peace deal... and Iran not seeming to care.... - Belle of the Ranch
Well, howdy there internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump rejecting Iran's peace deal and Iran not seeming to care.
Iran delivered their proposed conditions to reach a peace last night. Trump was quick to reject them, but didn't really go into the details. Trump posted to social media, I have just read the response from Iran's so-called representatives. I don't like it. Totally unacceptable. Thank you for your attention to this matter. President Donald J. Trump. So-called representatives and representatives is in scare quotes.
They're so-called representatives. What does that even mean? Is Trump negotiating with people he doesn't believe are the actual representatives of Iran because that would seem like another failure on his part? I wonder what prompted that fit.
Anyway, state aligned media in Iran said the terms included lifting US sanctions, ending the war on all fronts, the US naval blockade would end immediately upon signing. the release of frozen Iranian assets upon signing the memo. Then and only then could there be 30 days of negotiation about other things.
There are reports that Iran is willing to transfer some of its uranium to a third country during negotiations with the understanding that it will come back if talks failed, but they would not dismantle their nuclear facilities.
I'm going to say that's the part that sent Trump into a fit. Why? Because it provokes a question. Why would Iran refuse to dismantle facilities that were obliterated? The obvious answer is that they weren't and that their facilities are in better shape than Trump is telling the American people.
The reporting went on to say Iran was aware of Trump's unhappy response and quoted an Iranian official who said it has no importance.
It went on to say that no one on the Iranian team writes proposals to please Trump and that "The negotiating team should draft proposals only for the rights of the Iranian people and when Trump is dissatisfied with them, naturally, that is better.
They're literally trolling and laughing at him at this point.
Senator Lindsey Graham had lots to say about this, including, "The idea that Iran would not completely destroy all their enrichment facilities as part of a negotiated solution makes no sense. The moratorium without complete dismantlement of the enrichment facilities and capabilities truly becomes the JCPOA." Notice that Graham is acknowledging the sites are not obliterated. Trump lied, but beyond that, it becomes the JCPOA. That's the Obama deal Trump trashed.
Man, he is so close to getting it, isn't he? Trump needed a war. the closure of the strait, disrupting the global economy, the loss of US reputation, bases, and lives to get a deal almost as good as the one Obama got through negotiation.
He also said that between their constant attacks on international shipping, the persistent attacks on our Middle Eastern allies, and now a totally unacceptable response to America's diplomatic proposal. It is, in my view, time to consider changing course.
Graham's in support of escalating another Middle Eastern war with no end in sight. I know you're all surprised. I'll wait for you to finish gasping.
I'm just going to throw this out there. Maybe, just maybe, all the experts for the last 30 years were right about this being a really bad idea. and that the reality TV show guy is wrong. Maybe Iran understands that it can withstand US strikes for a long time and disrupt the global economy in the process, but it can't win that way.
We might want to consider that they're trying to provoke Trump's overemotional nature into invading so they can actually obtain better footing. Trump is out of his depth here.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.

I don't think Trump and his braintrust do, either.
