I'm old enough to remember when political campaigns were funded by public funds and outside money was shunned. I can also remember when funds were available to serious candidates and the riff-raff would fall away from the race due to lack of interest from the public and voting was not suspect nor contested for frivolous reasons and there was no such thing as superPacs.
