5. My cousin, a dual NZ + Swiss

citizen, lived in the US for 25 years, based his business here, but left during Trump’s 1st term. He had a Green Card and was considering citizenship. His daughter lives here, while she grew up in Switzerland her mom is American so she’s naturalized.

Anyway, my cousin was coming back often to visit because his life was here, but he didn’t want to live under Trump and didn’t have to. He was planning to come this month but doesn’t feel safe doing that because way back, long before his GC, he was an overstayer and is in the system as such. So now, no telling how he'd be treated.

We’re Seniors, neither of us in great health, and I ache at the possibility I’ll not see him again because … fascism.
