if I should book us a go look at Hawaii to get off the mainland trip after the election turned out the way it did. My husband said he wasn't moving. So, we didn't go.

We had literally bought a place in Panama after Shrub was elected a second time. Had been approved for permanent resident visas, stamped in our passports Then our house here burned down in 2007, and Obama was elected. We sold the Panama place. In 2015, when Trump was running, we made an offer on a place on Bonaire, but my husband backed out. I really regret that.

My husband --from whom I was separated --died in 2018. I had thought of going to look at France or Portugal, but didn't want to leave my elderly dog for several months, so kept putting off that trip. Then COVID. Gave up the idea of ever moving abroad and bought a small house under construction. Moved in Jan 6th, 2021.
I'm 74 now and I've decided I'm staying. I've suggested to both my sons they should get out ( they both have partners who won't leave), but I'd go with them if they went. But I don't have the energy to go alone.

I don't think it's crazy to consider getting off the mainland, but Hawaii is very expensive.
