3. There are really only five companies making Class 8 trucks

PACCAR (Pacific Car and Foundry) manufactures Kenworths and Peterbilts. PACCAR is based in the Seattle area. Kenworths are made in Chillicothe, Ohio; Peterbilts are made in Denton, Texas.

Volvo is a subsidiary of Volvo Group, and make Volvo and Mack trucks. Volvos are made in Dublin, VA, and Macks in Macungie, PA.

Daimler Trucks North America makes Freightliner and Western Star trucks, both made in Portland, OR.

Navistar, who makes International trucks, is part of Traton, which is part of Volkswagen Group. These are made in San Antonio, Texas.

Hino is a subsidiary of Toyota Group. They make their trucks in two factories in West Virginia. Hino is mostly in the upfitter market - they install bodies of various types on the frame rails rather than pulling trailers with them.
