Kolob is a star described in the Book of Abraham, a scripture in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as being the first and greatest star, located closest to the throne of God. The text also indicates Kolob governs other celestial bodies and sets the standard for God's time, with one revolution of Kolob equaling 1,000 years for humans. While sometimes mistakenly referred to as a planet, the scripture explicitly calls it a star, and the reference serves to teach about God's supremacy and a celestial hierarchy.
