2. I agree, though I recall the movement originating outside of government

...and was originally a coalition of religious figures, activists, entertainers, and others - long before it because focused on a few leaders.

I guess the party needs to be mindful of that, but they don't need to come at it apologetically or timidly to appease some bigot party member bent on hurting their fellow countryfolk.

I do think it's more about organizing and mobilizing the public rather elevating than a central figure who might be used by opponents to deflect from the issues at hand.

Definitely needs a more concerted organized effort, but successful movements are built by uniting people behind like concerns, taking care to keep legislative solutions at the head of protests.
