I hate to be a cynic, but this is a tragic situation arising from many years of mutual hostility, and each side has repeatedly announced its goal of annihilating the other. Hamas is a terrorist organization that has proclaimed its desire to kill all Jews; Netanyahu wants to eventually remove all Palestinians from Gaza so he and Trump can build a seaside resort. There is no good faith on the part of anybody any more, and I don't expect this cease-fire to last more than a few weeks - it's likely to go the way of other cease-fires that have been cobbled together in that region.
