what the Jesuits were accused of being in the 17th century (Readers Digest version - all about "the end justifies the means" - and if you want to see what that was believed to look like, read "The Man in the Iron Mask. Conspiracy theories are so often wrong I don't really take that seriously, but if there was anything in it, the Jesuits have long since abjured it) is what "Christian Nationalists" have in fact become in the 21st century. Well, actually the 20th century - a lot of this goes back to Reagan. Sigh. I hope the human race will grow up eventually. I most certainly will not live to see it.
