2. I'm okay with this attempt to call out their republican friends on their own terms

...using their own rhetoric about 'big' government to highlight their hypocrisy.

And I think this might also find its way into the minds of other republicans out there who are thinking this is some good thing.

Persuasion is our most substantive and potentially effective tool at this point, to effect the political process up and to elections. I like the wedge politics practiced here.
