5. I'm not frustrated that the ACA subsidies were not saved; we don't have the votes.

However, I am frustrated that the messaging and strategy about the shutdown left the impression with low information voters that Dems are weak and feckless and engaged in a pointless shutdown. Like it or not, we need low information voters to show up and vote for Dems (for whatever reasons move them) if we are going to have even a chance of putting a pause on the damage Repugs are inflicting upon our country/society, never mind rolling back that damage and rebuilding.

If Dems want to win, they cannot behave like the entire electorate is made up of wonky politicos who follow and understand everything that happens in DC. We have to meet people where they are and influence them from there. Sorry if it makes people butthurt to hear, but the Dems' shutdown performance did not do that. We need to do better.
