Your story and poem brought back similar experiences to me. I loved forts and snowball fights. We had a steep hill and the city blocked off the cross streets all winter. You could just fly down those hills.
I loved your story about your older sister. It wasn't Christmas I don't think, but mine told me, with glee, that God didn't exist. I have to say that she caught me off guard with that one.
But, still good times.
The fear of getting caught breaking a rule, then the thrill of getting off easy. I could feel each feeling as you told your story.
Wasn't it such a simple gift our parents gave us when they set us free in nature everyday?
