Widely studied, Napoleon's incursion into Russia remains a focal point in military history, recognized as among the most devastating military endeavors to ever unfold.[23] In a span of less than six months, the campaign exacted a staggering toll, claiming the lives of nearly a million soldiers and civilians.[24][22]

Of course, Hitler tried it also and froze all his little tushes off.

The US has tried it all around the world and eventually came limping home after causing horrible damage - both to other lands and to our own people.
