(1,445 posts)... gotten as far as he did without Bernie's endorsement. I guess he had Bernie fooled too. Bernie said that Fetterman would be a "real fighter for the working class" ... and without Bernies vocal support, its hard to imagine him surviving that primary or consolidating the base.
Now, Fetterman is openly mocking Bernie's positions on foreign policy and blasting "rot" in the party. Was Bernie just a "useful engine" for Fetterman to get elected, or did Fetterman genuinely change once he got to DC?
Since late 2023, Fetterman has distanced himself from the "progressive" label, specifically over his unconditional support for Israel, which directly conflicts with Bernies calls for aid conditions. I wonder how Bernie could have so seriously misjudged his character to the point where he was willing to put his own reputation on the line for Fetterman.
I was a big bait-and-switch, and I wonder if Fetterman would have even cleared the primary without Bernie's stamp of approval. Thoughts?
