It’s disappointing to see nothing but crickets in response from the male members of our little pro-democracy community.

For anyone interested in a comprehensive neurological explanation, I enthusiastically recommend the works of Dr. Iain McGilchrist, wherein he explains the difference between the left and right hemispheres of the brain. And no, it’s not the thoroughly debunked airy-fairy notions suggested in previous iterations of brain science.

In a nutshell, the left hemisphere gets things done, but doesn’t have the capacity to think outside the box and see the big picture. That’s the role of the right hemisphere. For the past 500 years, humans have built mechanistic societies that favor left brain activity and brute force, alpha male primate behaviors. The capacity to engage the right hemisphere has atrophied, but that half of our brain is always waiting at the ready for anyone who feels compelled to venture outside the constrictions of the left hemisphere. In the present time, that would include the entire MAGA movement.

His books are phenomenal, and videos of interviews and lectures are readily available on YouTube, and his website is also a wonderful source.
