I remember the excuse that the decision was made with future presidents considered. I'm fine with any president being charged for crimes they commit.

In 1999, I worked with lawyers from the EPA and DOJ in a case against a defense contractor for a 120-acre, 60' deep industrial toxic waste dump. His dishonor ruled that the three rural townships that were heavily contaminated were responsible for paying for the clean-up. I remember saying that if my neighbor had a dump that poisoned my land, water, and family, he should fund the clean-up, not me.

There is no denying that justice has been betrayed numerous times in the federal courts, including the USSC. But the one you note rates among the very worst.
