1. Because it's clearly opinion/speculation and I invite personal opinions here rather than DU just being another of 100 or so news aggregators, and

2. Statements of fact, or what seems to be fact, do need a reference, and

2a. Some sources are really janky, and
2b. Half the internet traffic is fake/bots. How can one even know? Very (formerly) trustworthy sites admit to using AI to write material.
