15. I support those women

I am also making a list of all the people in science associated with Epstein and their networks. I don’t want to read papers written by people like those. Most of the science out there is done by decent humans. There is no need to read the contributions of these bottom of the barrel types.

I have never bought into witchhunts and mobbing. They bring with them the risk of an Idiocracy society’s backlashes wherein people react with sympathy initially and then lose sympathy for survivors as chaos escalate
and then society turns more conservative and doubles down on the side of “Creep Rights! Creep Rights are Human Rights!!!”

The fuck they are. So always tricky- dealing with a clearly rather doltish society overall - hey I am one of you! Me Too! I am a brainless dolt too! We!!!

But the point is that survivors must not keep losing public support. Over time that leads to women losing more and more of the most basic rights and angeringly as annoying bs proliferates online (Kim Kardashian has a new show! Women are breaking barriers daily!!!).

That gives a skewed impression of the realities most women deal with and in lives of quiet desparation far from online twaddle.

This disease of a type of elite is another thing. I have met some elite after 2011 who have already maxed out my tolerance. (Though I seriously hope that as awful, annoying, douchey, tacky and unsympathetic to the average female stem worker as they were, they would at least meet the bare minimum of not being Epstein associated and not having histories of sexual harassment. That is the barest minimum in a scientist. What I saw seemed more archaic, backward, craven and unprincipled enough to accept a deteriorating status quo vapidly.

The only plus of that type of douchey conservative PMC is the absence of the a type of annoying and totally disingenuous fake left calculated to help the cons: e.g.: “Sunny in Philadelphia/George Carlin are the real issues in society and basically lead to Epstein!!”.

That shit is calculated to damage serious left. Chris Ketcham - who is awesome - had a cool piece dissecting creeps like Jamie Dimon who shill that crap along with deeply anti-left policies. A left that is more serious should allow those of us who aren’t particularly well-behaved or filtered to tag along so we are all represented when pushing back against these forces.

I was asked not to play Rammstein in lab 🙄. Yeah that’s the issue in science culture - a female grad student who plays Rammstein in lab and not this:

But the loss of satirical lefties - the kind who expect a society to understand satire without confusing cruelty or prejudice with edginess- has helped the alt right truly fuck with the collective psyche of at least the chronically online.

It must be why so many seem to confuse Trump’a mean-spiritedness with humor.).
