(12,549 posts)Watch the Hungarians. Winning and throwing the top layer of Orban's cronies to the curb is only the start. The Hungarians had 16 years of Orban and his sycophants embed party loyalists and then tear down the framework of a democratic society. It's going to take time, patience to rebuild and refashion the country to withstand another onslaught and bring relief to the country as a whole.
The United States is many times larger and more complicated. Even with a massive win in November and a howling success in 2028, the task to clean the barn and reestablish a fair and productive system to meet the needs of American citizens (not to mention trust in basic governmental functions), will take an enormous amount of dedication and effort.
We can do this but we definitely need a plan forward because simply bringing back what we had before won't be enough. For anyone.
Hungary may give us some ideas on what works and what doesn't. I hope the Democratic Party is working on a template for repair and reform because this will be our chance to form that more perfect union.
That said, I will scream my bloody lungs out once Trump and Flying Monkey Brigade are tossed into the dustbin of history.
