(10,139 posts)18. You apparently didn't read the details in the polling.
Steyer is at 22% among those interviewed before the Swalwell news broke wildly, at 17% among those interviewed afterwards.
Not only didn't Steyer "shoot up" post Swallwell, his support was significantly lower (though still well above all other Democrats).
Reports of sexual misconduct by Democrat Eric Swalwell have been circulating for weeks on social media, and finally broke through to traditional media at approximately 2 PM Pacific Time on Friday, April 10, 2026 roughly 80% through the field period for these interviews.
18% of likely voters tell SurveyUSA they are undecided including 17% of those who responded to the survey before the Swalwell news broke wildly and 21% of those who responded after the news broke.
It will be decided by the currently undecided and former Swallwell voters. I still think it will end up with the top 2 both being Democrats.

And this is even with Swalwell still a choice! We could see a top two Democratic race if things work out the right way

He's not "claiming " to be, he is a Democrat who ran for the Democratic nomination in 2020.
