These campaigns to undermine unions targeted white workers in particular. The "reagan democrats" were a specific demo of white workers who turned their backs on their labor interests to become "cultural voters." It's similar to how poor postbellum Whites in the South were lured into not cooperating with Blacks by giving them carte blanche over Blacks during jim crow v.1.

It's been the American Way forever for powerful Whites and their allies to use race as a wedge issue only to turn around and ask Blacks and others "why do you make everything about race?"

Mader's pretty brilliant. I wish I had that ability to rattle off the truth. She MAY be reading off an outline, but it seems mostly to be prepared contempraneousness (If I can coin a word).
