For clarity, I live in what was
Katie Porters district.

She never was in the lead on election night, usually took until the Friday after to take the lead and then kept adding to the lead until the end.

Very typical situation in CA.

This year I believe there will be even a larger flip. Reason being, many of us waited until the very end to make sure there weren’t any surprises and we could vote for the 2nd Dem for Gov.

Now I voted at 4:00 PM at my polling place, but I could have just as easily, actually more easily, dropped off my mail in ballot at a drop box or mail box and been one of those outstanding ballots.

Also for clarification to non Californians, we ALL get mail in ballots. We can then vote in person if we like.

I’m a vote in person type, wife and daughter are mail in. With that, it takes a bit longer to count, to verify no duplicates.

Is it a bit painful in close elections, yes. But a one week delay vs getting everyone the right to vote, I’ll take the delay.
