Platner isn't a perfect candidate. However, he's a good candidate for Maine at this juncture. His rough edges are an asset as well as a liability. The educated professional wing of the party may prefer a more polished candidate but Platner resonates with blue collar voters -- you know the ones party talking heads are always saying they want to win back.
