2027 Attorney General race in Virginia. Jay Jones was blasted by the media, every Republican and many national Democrats. It seems Mr. Jones had made threatening texts against a fellow lawmaker and his family.

I was following the election closely and was frightened that Jones' actions could cost the Governor's election for the Dems. I thought Jones was cooked. He was running against a pretty popular Republican incumbent. In the end, being a Republican in a purple state while Trump is President was worse than anything Jones did. The final count: Jay Jones won by over 6 and a half points. That was when Trump's approval numbers were 8 points higher, before $4.50 a gallon gasoline and before a prolonged, unpopular war Trump started in Iran

Don't write Platner off. His flaws may be disturbing, but they're not criminal. And he's against Trump and a Trump enabler, Susan Collins.
