29. It's a cult.

Hiding the failings of the leader, subjugating your own logical thinking processes to that of the leader, all cult characteristics.

The good thing is that cults disintegrate once the leader dies.

But then the question about US politics becomes - why did things get this bad, and how can it be prevented from happening again.
