Trump's weasely lawyers try to argue that birthright citizenship is a recent invention of the US. It's not, it's been a part of citizenship law since ancient times.

Birthright citizenship was a thing in Roman times, and is recorded in the Bible.

Acts 22:27-28 So the commander went over and asked Paul, “Tell me, are you a Roman citizen?”
“Yes, I certainly am,” Paul replied.
“I am, too,” the commander muttered, “and it cost me plenty!”
Paul answered, “But I am a citizen by birth!”
